SYDNEY
- 1st July 1999 -- Braenet Pty Ltd of Alexandria has been named among
a small handful of companies throughout Australia to receive the most
reputable certification available to regional Internet service providers
(ISPs); the Cisco Regional ISP certification. The certification signifies
outstanding quality of service, and is highly sought after by ISPs throughout
Australia. |
|
In
order to qualify, an ISPs infrastructure must be robust and engineered
to accepted industry standards. It must also comprise of at least 70 per
cent Cisco equipment. Cisco Systems is widely recognised as the world's
leading provider of Internet technology, and more than 80 per cent of
Internet traffic travels on Cisco's products. |
|
Braenet
was established in 1996 by Braemac Pty Ltd, and offers permanent connections
(modem and high-speed), virtual private networks, intranet/extranet solutions,
web hosting, dial-up connections, email solutions, virtual ISP's and domain
name services among others, to businesses and consumers in the Sydney,
Penrith, Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne regions. The company is a leader
in providing high-end solutions and has gained a reputation as being a
provider of premium and often specialised Internet solutions to the corporate
sector. Being one of the few ISPs in regional Australia to qualify for
certification, Braenet is now authorised to use the Cisco Regional ISP
logo to promote its services. |
|
"The
Cisco Regional ISP logo is the Internet industry's equivalent to the National
Heart Foundation's Tick of approval," said Terry Walsh, general manager,
Telecommunications/Service Provider Line of Business, Cisco Systems Australia.
"The logo conveys to customers that the bearer has the infrastructure
and expertise necessary to provide reliable, secure, high-quality services.
Less than two per cent of ISPs in Australia today are authorised Cisco
Regional ISPs." |
|
"We're
extremely thrilled to have received such a certification," said Braenet's
national general manager, Amanda Kernaghan. "Coming from a company
such as Cisco Systems is indeed the highest honor we could ever hope to
receive and gives immediate credibility to not only the standard and performance
of our national network, but to our products." |
